23. The Champion of Joey Eclipse

Maylolee hated mortality.

She understood hard mode progression was necessary. Maylolee’s and Joey’s skills should’ve grown more from raiding the Sculpted Gallery Kingdom. Using god mode to an overwhelming success had suppressed their growth potential.

For the next ten days, Maylolee had to make up for the lack of skill growth for herself.

Hard mode was necessary.

But mortality made Maylolee more emotional.

Without divinity, she couldn’t hear the singsong worship of her distant war sirens. Instead, she listened to the howling winds of the starving wasteland world.

Coarse gray dust slammed against Maylolee’s exposed mortal flesh. The dust wanted to flay her skin and ruin her beauty.

She had 16 charges in her Monumental Juggernaut. She had the toughness buff from Fabled Siren Tyranny.

The hateful dust couldn’t damage her.

The red suns glared from above. The barren ground tried to burn the soles of her bare feet. With every step, little rocks tried to stab her toes.

She wriggled her toes in defiance and crushed the little rocks. She refused to cover her feet. She hated the environment for trying to force its shoe-propagandist lies upon her.

The cracks in the ground weren’t wide. But when she spied into their dark crevices, they seemed to go down forever.

Maybe they would open up into pitfalls and try to eat her whole. That would represent this world’s themes fairly well.

The distant mega mountains looked like the bottom fangs of a hungry beast, which was also thematic.

Maylolee thought of changing her quicksilver outfit back into a full bodysuit. She decided against the notion and kept the swimsuit look.

Her bikini style contrasted the environment sharply and made her stand out. It was a reminder of her home back in the Tidal Moon Realm, keeping to her war siren roots.

Her plot armor rose a little more. She could use the extra bonus percentages as a mortal against two children of the Dragon Primordial.

“I can smell the princess-type aroma from you, girl. It’s all sweet, desirable, and worth adding to my hoard,” Felicity said with a mean smile. “Your husband threw you like bloody steak to the wolves. Or should we say dragons?”

[Multiverse Regressor: Steel Dragon Goddess: Mage lvl 174: Meet Felicity Stronghold, the most prideful of her rare handful of siblings. She’s on the tall side at six feet, three inches, and she’s built more like a plank, unfortunately for her. She might have a bone to pick with you for being too beautiful and having a dragon hunk of a husband.

She has dark skin, curly dark hair that reaches down to her ears, and a sharp, angular face that leans more on the handsome side. Yeah, she’s the tomboyish type, but she actually likes to wear dresses when nobody’s looking except for me, of course.

Why am I telling you all of this personal stuff? Because it’s fun, and I think it’ll be more interesting to watch you figure out her abilities on your own.]

“We know you’re oathbound. You got some nerve strutting all out and about with that power on top of being a free-ranging demigoddess.
